From December 13th to January 5th, artists from around the globe will showcase the very best of circus arts at the Coliseu Porto Ageas Christmas Circus. With an original story written by Afonso Cruz, directed by Ana Luena, lighting design by Cárin Geada, and original music by Carlos Tê and Pedro Vidal, we invite both young and old to a unique, unrepeatable, and astonishing show!

With a new concept every year, this time the Coliseu challenged Afonso Cruz to write his first-ever original story for a memorable circus. Winner of the European Union Prize for Literature, Afonso Cruz presents us with an ode to the Circus and all the arts that make it such a beautiful, demanding, and surprising spectacle - one that makes children’s eyes widen with wonder and rekindles adults' capacity to dream.

As the heart of the Circus lies with its performers, the show will feature impossible feats of balance and juggling, daring trapeze flights, high-speed roller-skating, aerial silks, hula-hoops, a master of the aerial pole, breathtaking acrobatics, and the contagious joy of clowns.

Developed and programmed by the Coliseu, the Coliseu Circus combines the classics of circus tradition with modernity. The result is a one-of-a-kind circus show in Portugal, refreshed and comprehensive, featuring a selection of artists from different countries: Datinelli Brothers (Portugal), Jamie & Beata (Scotland and Poland), Duo Jordanella (Austria and Switzerland), Priscila Alves (Portugal), Mateo Sito (Argentina), Agustin Rodriguez Beltran (Spanish-Mexican), Los Guerreros (Colombia and Peru), Duo Wonderlust (Australia), Susana Madeira and Pedro Almendra (Portugal). Special participation by Balleteatro, with movement choreography by Carlos Silva.

A true celebration of talent, surprise, and fantasy, the Coliseu Porto Ageas Circus has been an uninterrupted and iconic event in the city's calendar since 1941.
