FIG – International Festival of Giants celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2025 and, from 4 to 6 July, will bring over twenty performances of Theatre, Music and Dance to the town of Pinhal Novo, featuring local, national and international artists and companies, with some premières included.

Highlights of the programme include the street and fire theatre performance Aquiles by La Fam, the circus theatre show LLar by Federico Menini, and the fire and street theatre spectacle Veles e Vents by Xarxa Teatre. A key moment in the programme will be the traditional Parade and Ball of Giants, featuring dozens of groups and around 500 participants.

Throughout the three days, the Children’s Area will offer shows for children and families, storytelling sessions, games, workshops and animation. At the Comer à Grande food area, visitors can taste the best of local cuisine - including the traditional Sopa Caramela - while enjoying a lively atmosphere with demonstrations of Jogo do Pau (traditional Portuguese stick fighting) and live music.

The Museum - A Estação will host talks on Art and Inclusion and Culture, a Pillar of Democratic Society. The programme also includes roving performances, a Capoeira demonstration, and the Grutas e Gigantes initiative with board games. Admission to the Festival is free, although some performances require a ticket to be collected in advance.

FIG is an initiative of the Municipality of Palmela, in partnership with Bardoada – O Grupo do Sarrafo, ATA – Acção Teatral Artimanha, COI Youth Association, and PIA – Projectos de Intervenção Artística. This biennial event holds the EFFE Label (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe), awarded by the European Festivals Association.
