Online Showcase Outdoor Arts Portugal 2025

The Online Showcase Outdoor Arts Portugal 2025 will be presented to the public on 18 November, reaffirming the central role of artistic creation in public space and contemporary circus within the national cultural landscape. The premiere is scheduled for 14:00 (Portugal time) and will be streamed on YouTube, featuring an active live chat that will enable interaction between artists, programmers and viewers. After this initial session, the video will remain available for viewing without live interaction, ensuring broad access to the content.

This year’s edition brings together six proposals selected through a public open call and the creation grant programme, reflecting the vitality, aesthetic diversity and variety of approaches that characterise the sector. The participating artists and companies are Cia. A Nariguda (BUGIGANGA), Cia. Nico (Wine O’Clock!), Concorda (ConcorDanças), Izabel Nejur (GIGANTESCA), Joana Carmo Martins – Coração nas Mãos (How many flamingos does it take to make a party?) and Margarida Montenÿ (Clamor).

By adopting a pitch format, the showcase offers a privileged platform for new works with touring potential in 2026, encouraging dialogue between Portuguese artists and cultural programmers from different countries. Beyond promoting the international visibility of the featured creations, the initiative also serves as a space for observing emerging trends, revealing new ways of conceiving public space as an artistic, social and political territory.

Integrated within the strategy of the Outdoor Arts Portugal platform, the event reinforces a long-term commitment to promotion, capacity-building, research and internationalisation in the field of artistic creation in public space. In a sector marked by experimentation, a diversity of voices and a constant rethinking of the relationship between art and place, the showcase positions itself as an essential tool for strengthening the recognition of contemporary dramaturgies and supporting the professional development of Portuguese artists.

The Outdoor Arts Portugal programme is promoted by Bússola, with the support of the Portuguese Republic, Culture, Youth and Sport, through the Directorate-General for the Arts.
