The Encontro Internacional de Palhaços de Vila do Conde is extremely important both nationally and internationally. At this moment there is an urgent need to color with smiles and hope a gray society that is increasingly sad and anguished by the times we live in. Clowns and people who work with the art of making people laugh today have an increased responsibility. “Laughter is the best medicine” and therefore, for several days, children and adults will be able to enjoy a sequence of shows and other activities, where the art of the clown, the circus and social conscience are mixed. In addition to the Festival's programming, in all editions, this presents a complementary action consisting of a training action for professionals in the field, promoted by an internationally renowned trainer in the world of clowns. The proposal is simple: to create a space where clowns can perform free of clichés, without being trapped in the universes of pure entertainment and childhood, outside the circus, the mall or the birthday party. The poet, politician and warrior clown presents his author works here. We intend to elevate “Vila do Conde to the capital of Laughter and Joy” with shows in open-air public spaces and at the Municipal Theater. Children and adults will be able to enjoy joint moments of celebration of laughter and humanity. This event is also a meeting point and exchange of experiences between professionals and the general public. The International Meeting of Clowns in Vila de Conde has proved to be important both for the growth and recognition of the poetic art of the clown, as well as for boosting cultural activity and building the loyalty of new audiences in the city and in the country.
