carus et Lumen was born in 2023 by the union of two artists with very different backgrounds, who decided to combine their talents and virtues to create shows with their own unique matrix.
The main premise of Ícarus et Lumen is the pursuit of a work that promotes the arts and culture in all their aspects.
Born in Santa Maria da Feira. Degree and Master's in Law, Master's in History. He took over as scientific director of the Santa Maria da Feira Castle Watch Committee in 2021. At the same time, he began developing projects for the company ‘Ofícios com História’, a promoter of historical recreation events. This includes countless consultancy jobs in terms of research and historical rigour, with a view to increasing the quality of historical recreations in Portugal, from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. Getting to the stage was a small step. The first scripts of his own authorship began to appear, and characters were born, namely the one best known to the public, ‘Archbishop Geraldo’, who not only celebrates weddings all over the country but also mercilessly condemns sinners. In 2022 and 2023 he took on the general curatorship and creation of shows for the Medieval Market in Óbidos, Braga Romana, the Afonsina Fair in Guimarães, the 19th century Market in Valongo, among many others. In 2023 he founded Ícarus et Lumen in partnership with Bruno Melo.
He was born in the Azores. It all began when, at the age of 13, he took part in a talent show as a magician. The competition, organised by a cultural association, earned him a place on the podium among 78 contestants. RTP Açores invited him to participate in a live television contest, marking the start of an intense career in performances, interviews, and more. In 2010, he received invitations from local councils, companies, and banks to create shows for the largest venues in the archipelago. In 2016, he founded Yupi Festas, a company dedicated to personalised entertainment shows. That same year, he joined the 9circus Association (circus arts), where he trained in various circus disciplines. It was here that he began creating social circus projects that reached all the islands of the Azores, receiving huge support from the local population. In 2017, he specialised in aerial silks at INAC. In 2018, he played a key role in organising the EJC, the world's largest circus arts gathering. In 2019, he performed at the CCA (Azores Circus Convention) and remains an active member both in production and on stage. In 2020, he started providing technical assistance in aerial acrobatics at Chapitô and became an aerial dance teacher at the Romana Academy that same year. In 2021, he resumed his social projects with “Zircusmonde,” working in partnership with numerous artists. In 2022, he participated in RTP’s Portugal's Got Talent, becoming the world’s first Golden Buzzer winner, awarded directly by the format's producers. Since then, he has worked on numerous television programmes, both on the mainland and in the Azores. Also in 2022, he joined the 'Malatitsch' company, where he performs fire shows, aerial acts, leaps, and more. In 2023, he co-founded Ícarus et Lumen with Daniel Mota.
