Teatro
The Teatro e Marionetas de Mandrágora is a professional puppet theatre company led by artistic directors Clara Ribeiro and Filipa Mesquita, with enVide neFelibata as the visual director. The company was founded on April 2, 2002. At the core of its work lies the marionette, a fundamental element that emerges from the symbiosis of a symbolic language blending heritage and traditional legacy with the thoughts and dynamics of contemporary society, often in a dialogue that is not always peaceful. This element supports the pursuit of a unique cultural identity.
Our objective is to explore the aesthetic, visual, scenic, and dramatic potential of the marionette, both as an independent entity and in its relationship with the actor. Through this exploration, we develop a dramaturgy that defines us: one that delves into culture, belief, and legend, intertwined with urbanity, technological exploration, and the rapid pace of the global village.
Over the course of our artistic journey, we have presented diverse projects for audiences of all kinds—adults, youth, schools, and families—as well as offering foundational and specialized training. One of our major commitments is the national and international touring of our projects. Decentralization, community work, collaborative creation, and the promotion of social and inclusive values are central to our daily practice.
